This weekend, being Easter, and fortunately only having to work one day of the weekend led me to thinking of how our lifestyle impacts on family life. Work work and more work, and then to allow us to enjoy the time off or in most cases to allow us to get things done others have to work.
In the Christian world, Sunday is SUPPOSED to be a day of rest......but today it seldom is. Most work a 6 day week and that leaves Sunday to get things done, and capitalizing on that shops now remain open all week.....what of the families of those that now have to work on a Sunday.
There are many criticisms of the Western world, some just some unfounded however I think society as a whole is digging a hole for itself. Money, profit, greed are demanding we work more and as a result the very fabric of life, the family unit is disintegrating. Discipline is faltering, respect is fading and society seems oblivious..........sad really!
